About

I am Emma Macchiarini, an artist who works in metals, and paint. These paintings are the first I have been able to create since 2020. I have been enjoying this creative explosion. I forgot how much I love color and texture.

Almost all of these works contain the red thread. This symbology has been useful to depict the sense of hanging onto existence through blood. It is an umbilical cord, and a decoration. It is a lifeline, and it is wisdom. This series has allowed me to express my ever growing fascination with the phases of female existence . desire, and being.

The women in these paintings are all me, and not me also. I try to speak from authentic voice in my work, so I create images of female pathos. I aim to express a complex, tense, or important moment of a womans life. Something with movement, beauty, terror, and love. I look into the void with loving eyes and see flowers, fruit, blood, battles, and maternity. I see new beginnings, brides, children, water, wind. It is my hope that the viewer can experience some of the richness, and sweetness of this vision.

Color is a gift from God, and I want to put it everywhere that I can.
